For Research Corporation — a foundation dedicated to science education and research — their path couldn’t be more clear. Their focus from the very beginning has been about newness, innovation and discovery and the time had come to reaffirm this important role.
Research Corporation’s primary mission has been to provide grant opportunities to young innovative career scientists as a means of kick-starting their work and catalyzing future scientific breakthroughs.
In advance of its centennial year, Research Corporation identified this milestone as the perfect opportunity to modernize its brand. Not only would the foundation benefit by conveying its role as an actively engaged funding source, but also by establishing its credentials as a forward looking agent of change. The new identity would create a bridge between the organization’s history and its future.
Though it isn’t the first goal of the organization, Research Corporation also promotes STEM education in primary schools here in southern Arizona, gifting science themed shirts to a local school to get kids excited about science, technology, education and math subjects.
Along with the identity work, Godat Design helped create a new platform for Research Corporation to communicate with their ever-changing audience. Godat provided name development services for the Scialog program — a portmanteau of Science and Dialogue. Scialog aims to spark conversations among research scientists so they might push the envelope in targeted fields of science.
Research Corporation has implemented the Scialog program with great success and is currently running three Scialog programs on topics ranging from astrophysics to solar energy conversion.
